Six ways a car key goes wrong
Lost, snapped, demagnetised, locked in, worn out or never had a spare. All six are fixable at the kerb for most cars on the road.
All keys lost
A new key cut to the lock and coded to the immobiliser with no original needed. This is the job dealers quote a tow for, and it is routine work for a properly equipped van.
Spare keys before you need one
The cheapest key you will ever buy is the second one, made while the first still works. Losing your only key costs several times what a spare would have.
Transponder and immobiliser faults
Key turns, engine will not start. Usually the chip or the coding rather than the cut. We test and reprogram on site.
Remotes and proximity fobs
Buttons that no longer work, batteries, and full replacement fobs paired to the car. Push-button start vehicles included for most makes.
Keys snapped in the lock
The broken half extracted without damaging the barrel, then a replacement cut on the spot. Do not try pliers first; it usually turns a small job into a barrel replacement.
Ignition barrels
Worn or damaged barrels repaired or replaced and matched to your key wherever the vehicle allows it, so you are not left with two keys for one car.
